Understanding Domain Extensions

.com - This the most popular used extension because when blogs first started coming out they used this. It was the most common for someone to use when they first started creating a website but since it's the most popular you might end up choosing another extension. You don't have to but your going to have to be creative if you want .com as your extension.

.net - Not as uncommon as .com which would put this extension right behind it. It's also getting crowded with popular blogs so just make sure you take your time when your creating your domain name.

.org - It was once only used for non-profit organizations, but now anyone can use it

.info - This extension is kind of new and alot of spammers have used this as their extension. Test out the other extensions you choose and save this one for last.

.me - Also an extension thats new and you can use it for any kind of site.

.name - You will only be able to use this for your own name. So if your not planning on using your own name don't think about using this site

.tv - Usually used for blogs and website that blog using videos (vlogging). More about that in my blog

.biz - This extension is used only for businesses

.edu - This extension is used only for schools

.gov - This extension can only be used by government agencies

.jobs - You can only use this extension if you have a company that's posting open job listings. Third party job listings aren't allowed.

.mil - This extension is used only for the United States Military.

.mobi - This is an extension that uses websites that are compatible with mobile devices.

.pro - Only can be used for licensed or certified lawyers, accountants, and engineers in the United States, United Kingdom, or France.

Tip: There are some extension that will charge a little more than the others so make sure you choose one that you can work with and that is also a resonable price.
