Understanding Domain Names

A domain name is the name of your blog. It's what someone would type into a search bar or the browser to come to your site. Finding a domain name will be the hardest thing when your starting your blog. This is true because there are billions of websites on the web and chances are the first couple of names that you come up with will already be taken. So when finding your domain name you need to be creative and you need to make sure that your blog content matches your domain name. You have to make sure of that because when someone looks at your domain name in a search engine you don't want your domain name to be way off topic. For example: Say you have a blog about dogs and your domain name says http://www.allaboutme.com/. That is a way off topic and I promise you won't have too many people come to your blog that love dogs because they won't have a clue that it's about dogs. When your creating a domain name you will see where you have to pick a ending such as .com, .net, etc. These are called extensions and each one are used for different reasons.
